PRIVATE: UPDATED COVID GUIDELINES IN BUDAPEST
Posted 1 year ago by Step By Step Budapest Team
Mask mandates and vaccine IDs
The guidelines in Hungary were relatively loose in the past year. Currently there are no curfews and no restrictions on travel within Hungary. While masks were required on public transportation and certain indoor locations like grocery shops and malls this is set to change from next Monday.
According to official government communications, Hungary will get rid of most safety measures that were implemented to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Mask mandates will be gone, and vaccine card requirements are scrapped in most places (with a few exceptions, such as healthcare facilities) starting from the 7th of March, 2022. A vaccination card will no longer be required to enter most clubs and parties as an example. In line with the new guidelines our company will no longer asking for proof of immunity or proof of vaccination either on our Budapest Pub Crawl, however we do advise that our guests behave appropriately to protect their health and safety.
Requirements for entering Hungary
Regardless of the above changes, it seems that the requirements to enter the country have not changed recently.
People that intend to visit Hungary must show proof that they either:
- Fell ill with COVID-19 and recovered from it within 6 months of entering Hungary
- Have an immunity certificate issued by a country which has a bilateral agreement with Hungary
- Have an immunity certificate issued by a country of which Hungary unilaterally recognizes the immunity certificate
Altenatively travellers have the option to present a negative PCR test result which is not older than 72 hours.
People who enter Hungary from the territories of Austria, Croatia, Romania, Slovakia or Slovenia get a ‘free pass’, except via civil aircraft.
